Havana is famous for its late 1950s American cars. Polished, tricked out, and loved, they are a source of income for enterprising Cubans and a source of enjoyment for tourists.

The Revolution is just beneath the surface. It has had its problems -- major ones -- but it has also raised the average Cuban's living standards, provided free education and free health care. Also economic stagnation, partially (but only partially) attributable to the U.S. blockade. Popular support remains strong.
